Fix gaps in iOS 8 QuickType words

Since I installed iOS 8 on my iPhone 5s I’ve been experiencing a strange issue with the predictive keyboard/QuickType. Some words that the predictive keyboard suggested had a large gap at the beginning. Meaning my messages would send out looking something like this:

“The cat sat on the mat” …. This is not something I text a lot but used purely as an example.

I soon started to realise it was words that I had previously added to the dictionary. So I figure clearing the dictionary may fix it.. Which it did!

So if your experiencing issues with the predictive keyboard, then perhaps try deleting your iPhone keyboard dictionary. This isn’t the language dictionary this is purely your own custom words.

To do this, tap on Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary

You’ll them be prompted for your iPhone passcode, once entered the dictionary will be wiped.

Caveat: This will obviously mean you’ll have to build up your custom word dictionary again from scratch.. However it’s a small price to pay!

Apple are apparently still working on the feature, and are not quite ready to bring this into the spotlight just yet.

It’s not yet clear if this feature will be available to all devices. As more information becomes available, I will update this post.
