OS X 10.9.3 is now available to download

Apple have just released the latest OS X Mavericks update.. OS X 10.9.3 is now available to download from the AppStore, alternatively use the following terminal command:

sudo softwareupdate -iva

The update addresses issues with 4K monitors on Mac Pro (Late 2013) and MacBook Pro with 15-inch Retina Display (Late 2013).

An update to iTunes, which resolves some sporadic crashing when updating genius library info.

The ability to sync contacts and calendars between a Mac and iOS device using a USB connection

Improves the reliability of VPN connections using IPsec

Finally the update Includes Safari 7.0.3

One small thing that people are noticing with the update, is that they’ve made a decision (rightly or wrongly) to hide the users folder from within the root directory.

This can easily be resolved with a simple terminal command – details of which can be found here

As with all these software releases, it’s best to perform a disk utility permissions repair before and after. It also goes without saying….. Ensure your TimeMachine backups are up to date before updating!
