Apple have just released iTunes version 11.2.2 for both OS X and Windows, you can download iTunes now either by visiting https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ or by launching iTunes on your devices and checking for updates.
This is not an unusual move during the build up to a WWDC. There is no news suggesting this new version is to support up and coming hardware.. The release notes simply point out they are fixing issues with podcast downloads and improving overall application stability:
The download is a hefty 78.1MB (for the OS X version)
One things for sure, as this news spreads around the networks downloads will gradually start to slow down as servers get more saturated.
