Rockstar Games have long since been known for their massively popular series of games ‘Grand Theft Auto’ which premiered on PC and PlayStation platforms back in 1997. Back then it was simply a top down based view on the player and his antics.

It’s fair to say the releases that followed the very first GTA have been breath-taking. Non more so then the latest remastered version of Grand Theft Auto 5, which is due for release on all major platforms on the 18th of November this year.

GTA 5 fetches with it something nobody expected.. That is a ‘first person’ for in-game action. This can be seen in the recently released trailer below. It’s not yet clear it this will make the game any harder, as GTA has never been known for its accuracy around gun control. However, its fair to say the first person view of driving looks awesome.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available to preorder via the PlayStation Network, and from most popular retail and online outlets.

I’ve been out of the GTA loop now since my PS 3 died its red light death, however I have the new one on preorder and I’m looking forward to reviewing it on release day!

playstation-4Sony’s recent release of version 2.0 of its PlayStation 4 menu system brought with it some pretty exciting features, such as share play and much better media support. However, it’s also thought to have caused a pretty serious issue with those owners who use the sleep functionality (myself included). Internet forums where awash with users from all around the globe talking about how they are unable to wake up their trusty games machines once asleep. Sony have been quick to rectify this, and last night released an update 2.01 which focuses on resolving this issue.

The download should be automatically added to the downloads queue on your PlayStation, and once installed and your machine reboots you should find the issue has been resolved. I’ve tested this, and sure enough – I can now wake my from its sleep once more.

Lync Custom Status ToolLast night saw the long-awaited release of version 2.0.0.3 of my Lync power user add-on LCS. This has been a long time in the pipelines as I have worked with a number of users from around the world to squash the bugs in version 2.0.0.1.

The bugs resolved focus around issues with activation. In the past activation requests had a habit of timing out or failing all together. This has now been resolved, and a safeguard put in place to offer a grace period should my servers be unavailable.

Although this is a minor release in the LCS stream, the major 2.0.1.0 is not too far behind. 2.0.1.0 will be packed with new features based around the latest release of the Microsoft Lync client.

If you have yet to download LCS, or would like to sign up for the BETA test scheme of 2.0.1.0 then click this link. BETA testers receive discount vouchers to spend on any application on my site.

Volume licensing is available so if you would like to discuss this, or anything else to do with LCS please get in touch: support@mikesel.info

Malkolm Swivel chairAlthough I am only a casual home office user, my workstation takes pride of place in my living room.. My substantial L-shaped glass desk has been the home of many an hour of hard work and inspirational thinking.. However, my office chair has always left (until now) a lot to be desired. Despite the role it plays at my workstation, I thought I’d get away with a frugal investment in a cheap chair …. How wrong was I!

After somewhat of a long shift at my desk one day, I decided enough was enough and the cheap chair had to go.. So I headed off to Ikea, not renowned for it’s office furniture, but still carries a good selection. Especially for the casual home office worker.

A quick hunt around, and several sit downs later I was greeted by what was soon to become my cheap chair replacement. The artificial leather caught my eye across the showroom, pretending to be a much more expensive full leather chair.. Yet with the vegetarian at heart.. (No cows where harmed whilst making this chair – at least, I don’t think they where!?)
